Horizons Grazing Plots

To demonstrate different grazing options on tame pasture, we have three demo plots in the summer of 2026:

Plot 1: two cattle moves per day, medium stock density and (approx.) 70% forage removal in short, wide paddocks (left side of image below)

Plot 2: two cattle moves per day, medium stock density and (approx.) 70% forage removal in long, narrow paddocks (second and third from left, below)

Plot 3: four cattle moves per day, high stock density and (approx.) 90% forage removal (middle strip below with 2.1-2.3 acre paddocks)

The strips with 12.2 and 12.1 acres in the image below will be used for demonstrating cattle moves on the two days of tours during Horizons.

Plot 1:

Area: 11 acres  or 4.45 hectares
# of paddocks in plot: 2
Total time in plot: 1 day
Total time in each paddock in plot: 1/2 day

% forage removed (estimated): 70%

Plot 2:

Area: 11 acres or 4.45 hectares
# of paddocks in plot: 2

Plot 3:

Area: 8.9 acres 3.6 hectares

Moved into strip at 7AM, moves at 10AM, 1PM, 4PM (UPDATE THIS)
